Over 700 guests attended the Opening Reception of Dispossessed, an exhibition of paintings representing the artist Ana Tzarev's deep sense of empathy for persons suffering from injustice and hardship through events and circumstances beyond their control. Ana Tzarev's childhood was marked by terrible adversity - the works in Dispossessed acknowledge the fact that she carries the personal knowledge of injustice while, at the same time, there is a subtle, strong message of hope conveyed through her technique and pure use of color. This powerful series of works is extraordinarily emotional and includes dramatic images as diverse as those provoked by the artist's reaction to the horror of the 2004 Beslan massacre and the proud, impoverished Mayan weavers of Guatemala.
