Frames of Reality

ArtAction and Ana Tzarev Gallery Present First Joint Israeli-Palestinian Photography Exhibit
Ana Tzarev Gallery, New York
15 May - 09 June 2009

“Frames of Reality” features dozens of photographs taken by 20 Palestinian and Israeli photojournalists from respected news sources. The exhibition includes works that reflect the photographers’ thoughts about daily life in the region, particularly the pressures of ongoing violence. Each photographer displays a unique style and voice.

The “Frames of Reality” project was developed during 12 joint workshops over a six month period, implemented by the Peres Center for Peace and “Local Testimony”. They established an online social network that kept the photojournalists in constant contact with one another. Two Palestinian photojournalists from the Gaza Strip, unable to get entry permits to Israel, participated online. The
exhibit opened last fall in Jaffa, Israel.

The project was funded by ArtAction, which also produced a hard cover book, “Frames of Reality”, featuring 18 photo essays with accompanying texts by individual photojournalists. It is available for purchase at the Ana Tzarev Gallery. Proceeds will go to the Peres Center for Peace.
