Floating World: Paintings Inspired by the Arts of Japan, will feature paintings influenced by Ana Tzarev's long-standing interest in Japanese history, culture and the arts. Throughout her life, Tzarev has traveled extensively in Japan and developed a deep respect for the people and culture of the country. The artwork in the exhibition reflects Tzarev's encounters during her travels and tells the story of her unique experiences.
Both colourful and dramatic, the art is a celebration of the cultural diversity of the country and provides the audience with Tzarev's exceptional insight into and remarkable knowledge of Japanese history, spirituality and the arts. In this collection, Ana interprets and documents long-standing Japanese cultural traditions including Kabuki Theatre, Wood Block prints, Geisha, ink paintings, Tea Ceremony and Shinto God mythology.
